Membrane switches provide both interface and panel graphics, combining a bespoke switch array with custom appearance in a single component. The concept is simple, a transparent flexible top layer is screen printed on its undersurface with your specific design, whilst beneath, on subsequent layers, separated from each other by an insulating spacer, conductive tracks connect with contact areas. The spacer has apertures opposite the contact areas and light pressure applied to the top layer will bring opposing contacts together to complete a circuit. With this simplicity at its heart a membrane can enhance the appearance of most types of electronic equipment whilst providing a practical solution to your switching requirement.
